Halloween 2010

Another Halloween has come and gone. What a busy week it was for us! We managed to make it to Zoo Boo again this year. It was a gorgeous day which meant there were a lot of people at the event. Luckily, since we are members at the zoo we got to go in a special entrance so didn't have to wait as long as some. Briella always enjoys this event since the zoo is one of her favorite places and Cooper has now attended his first zoo boo as well!

Later in the week we also made our annual trip to Saint Mary's to trick or treat in the residence halls. This was a tradition back when I was in school and I am happy that my kids get to participate in it now! Briella has a great time every year. Aunt Carly was able to go with us again this year (her last year since she's a senior) and Cooper also went along though he slept the whole time! On the actual day of Halloween Briella did a little bit of trick or treating but since she already had quite a bit of candy I think it had sort of lost its luster. We went to Grandpa Buchmann's house and to a few houses around the neighborhood though. Another fun holiday in the books!

Welcome Cooper Robert!

At 10:39pm on October 14th we welcomed the newest member of our family, Cooper Robert Buchmann. He weighed 7lbs, 9 oz (much less than they thought he would), was 20 inches long and is as healthy as can be. It was a long journey for him to come starting at 7pm on October 13th with some scary moments thrown in (his heartbeat was dropping with each contraction at one point) but in the end it was obviously well worth the wait. Briella is pleased as punch with her new little brother and we are all settling into a new dynamic.

Change is in the air

Wow...it has been a long time since I have posted here. For those few people who follow us I apologize and hope to become better in the coming weeks/months.

Lots of things have been going on with our family in the past few months.
  • Briella started preschool at St. Bavo and loves it. You cannot imagine our happiness at the fact that she literally loves going to school. We were very worried after the last attempt at a preschool for her but I definitely think that St. Bavo is a great fit for her and us.
  • Mike's football team is currently undefeated and has a chance to win the NIC championship outright with a victory this Friday night. They have a tough game ahead of them but I definitely think the motivation and discipline is there from both the coaches and the players to come out with a victory. If you are interested in listening to the game you can find it here at 7pm on Friday night.
  • The most exciting thing going on with us is that we are awaiting the arrival of a new member of our family. Our new baby is likely going to be born within the next couple of days. This pregnancy has definitely been on the rough side for me. I've had some complications that I didn't have with Briella which have made it more difficult however I have been lucky in that the complications have been manageable and I did not have to stop working. Today is actually my first official day of maternity leave and if all goes well we will be going into the hospital tonight to start the inducing process.

So those are the major updates on our life. It feels almost surreal that our family of three will become a family of four in a matter of days. Briella has gotten over her initial shock of finding out she was getting a brother and seems to be ready to be a big sister (her first words when we told her it was a boy were "Are you kidding me?") I am sure there will be an adjustment period for all of us but hopefully it will be short and we will move into a new routine quickly.

I make no guarantees but I hope to have lots to share in the coming weeks so stay tuned!

Monsters Inc.

We watched Monsters Inc as a family over the weekend and afterward Briella made some pictures. I think she definitely inherited her Dad's art talent!!
